Have Sum Fun Live

The Have Sum Fun Competition is an exciting mathematics initiative that uses a quiz-night format. Teams of six students race against the clock to solve four intense rounds of eight challenging problems.

Teams can only have a maximum of three students of the higher year level; e.g., in the Year 7/8 competition, only three Year 8s are allowed in the team.

There is a school trophy for the winning team, individual trophies for the winning team members, and prizes for members of the three runner-up teams with place-getter certificates for all these six team members. All other students receive participation certificates.

The Great Southern Region Have Sum Fun Live was held at NASHS on Thursday, 8th September. Teams from ASHS and Mt Barker joined the NASHS students for some friendly competition. Paula McMahon, from the Executive Office for the Mathematical Association of WA (MAWA), came to Albany to run the competition and facilitate teacher professional development on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. NASHS fielded two teams in the 7/8 and 9/10 divisions, and we took out first and second in both divisions. Congratulations to all participating teams, and well done, NASHS, on a spectacular result.
